Ombudsman for Good Scientific Practice

Prof. Dr. Joachim Friedrich Quack

Ombudsman since 2024

Responsibilities and Duties of This Ombudsperson

For consultation, preliminary review, and mediation of disputes regarding good scientific practice, the Academy’s leadership has appointed a neutral ombudsperson of high personal integrity from among its members. In particular, the ombudsperson is tasked with serving as a point of contact for the parties involved—while strictly maintaining confidentiality—to provide advice when a suspected violation of the principles of good scientific practice is brought to their attention. In addition, the ombudsperson will investigate the facts of the matter, take further steps depending on the outcome, and consult the Good Scientific Practice Commission.
