A Profile of the Young Academy

The Young Academy | HAdW offers early-career researchers a space for interdisciplinary research and exchange among themselves and with the Academy’s members.  The Young Academy | HAdW’s scientific program is characterized in particular by interdisciplinary project and conference funding.

Members receive support during the crucial career phase following their doctorate as they pursue a tenured professorship. They enrich the Academy’s scholarly profile by bringing a cutting-edge perspective based on current research approaches and methods.

The Young Academy brings together various funding initiatives of the Academy:

In the WIN Kolleg, early-career researchers from Baden-Württemberg independently lead interdisciplinary projects. The WIN Kolleg is divided into WIN subprograms, each typically lasting five years, which in turn comprise several research projects. Membership in the WIN Kolleg is limited to the duration of active participation in one of the ongoing research topics.

The Academy College promotes dialogue between young and experienced researchers and across disciplines. Members of the Academy College include the Academy’s award recipients, alumni of the WIN Kolleg, and early-career researchers from Baden-Württemberg appointed by the Academy. Membership lasts five years and may be extended once upon request.

The WIN-Conferences enable early-career researchers in Baden-Württemberg to host international, interdisciplinary conferences that they have conceived and organized independently.
