Manfred Fuchs Award
To encourage emerging researchers and ensure that outstanding scientific achievements receive the recognition they deserve, Dr. Dr. h.c. Manfred Fuchs has established a research award to support emerging researchers in Baden-Württemberg.
It has been awarded by the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities since 2015 and comes with a prize of 10,000 euros.
Who is eligible for nomination?
The award honors particularly qualified early-career researchers who are pursuing a habilitation in the humanities or who lead a research group in the natural sciences and engineering and are generally preparing for a professorship. The award specifically honors early-career scholars who build bridges between different academic cultures. Candidates are evaluated based on their scientific achievements to date.
Candidates nominated for the award should not be older than 40 years of age. If several candidates have contributed equally and significantly to the work, the award may be shared equally among them.
Who may submit nominations?
- All members of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities
- The leadership of all academic institutions at universities in Baden-Württemberg (rectors, deans, Managing Directors, institute directors)
- The leadership of all non-university research institutions in Baden-Württemberg (Managing Directors)
- Self-nominations are not permitted
