Does Policy Grow on Trees? Toward a Code of Conduct.
Lecture by Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Bartha Maria Knoppers (Canada) In cooperation with the Heidelberg University School of Law, the GHGA, BioQuant, and the IWH.
What regulatory options are available to promote the responsible handling of sensitive data in the field of human genome research? Which regulatory methods are best suited to reconcile the freedom of research with the data protection rights of those affected? Can scientists contribute to regulation? How can the international exchange of data be supported ethically and legally? How can the differing regulations in various countries be reconciled to enable research while simultaneously providing a high level of protection for data subjects?
Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Bartha Maria Knoppers will explore these questions on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. at the International Science Forum Heidelberg (Hauptstraße 242, 69117) as part of her lecture “Does Policy Grow on Trees? Towards a Code of Conduct.”
