About the Speaker: Prof. Dr. Christian Drosten is a physician and virologist. His areas of research include viral diversity, ecology, and epidemiology across the various stages of evolution—from a pathogen’s natural reservoir to its global spread among humans. He heads the Institute of Virology at Berlin’s Charité.
The Heidelberg Academy lecture series was presented in 2009 by the Support Association for the Promotion of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities e.V. as a gift to mark the Academy’s 100th anniversary and has since been funded and organized annually by the Support Association and the Schmeil Foundation. World-renowned scholars are regularly invited to Heidelberg for the event.
