Academy Semester 2026/27
The Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities is both a non-university research institution and a scholarly society. A key pillar of the Academy is its sponsorship of long-term research projects within the Academy Program (external link). These projects run for 12 to a maximum of 25 years. They are focused on basic research in the humanities, historical jurisprudence, and the economic and social sciences.
To assist with the preparation of grant proposals, the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities is announcing the “Academy Semester” for the winter semester 2026/2027. This program is designed to enable applicants to take a sabbatical semester at their institutions to prepare proposals and develop the profile of a proposed research project within the Academy Program. The call for applications is open to researchers who have earned a Ph.D. or habilitation and hold a permanent position at a research institution in the state of Baden-Württemberg.
The submission deadline is January 31, 2026.
Further information on the application requirements can be found on the call for proposals page (internal link).
