In 2025, the prize will be awarded by the Philosophical-Historical Class.
Who qualifies for nomination?
The prize is awarded for scientific work that has been published or completed by young researchers in Germany and is ready for publication. The work should not have been completed more than three years before the beginning of the year in which the prize is awarded; nominees should not be over the age of 40 at this time. In special cases requiring justification, these restrictions may be waived. The prize may be shared if several authors have contributed to the work; however, it may not be split between several independent works.
Who may nominate?
- the full members of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities
- the heads of the scientific institutions of the universities in Baden-Württemberg (rectorates, deaneries, managing directors, institute directors)
- the heads of non-university research institutes in Baden-Württemberg (managing directors)
- self-nominations are not permitted
What needs to be submitted?
- justification of the proposal of a maximum of two pages
- curriculum vitae
- list of publications
- prize-worthy work
- if the prize is awarded by the Philosophical-Historical Class, please also submit both doctoral and postdoctoral reports.
The documents should be sent as one PFD file to hadw[at]hadw-bw.de.
When will a decision be made?
The Academy announces its decision at the beginning of the year. The award winner and their mentor will be informed of the result in writing.
