Support Association
About Us
The mission of the Support Association is to provide both moral and material support to this research institution, which is unique in Baden-Württemberg. It is important to the members of the Support Association that science be able to flourish and innovate without restriction at the Academy, that young scientists in particular receive targeted career support, and that dialogue between the scientific community and the public be strengthened.
The Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities regularly awards nine Awards to emerging scholars. The Academy Award (awarded since 1985) is funded by the Support Association; the other Awards are made possible by donors—whether individuals or institutions—who are members of the Support Association.
In addition, the annual “Heidelberg Academy lecture series” was launched in 2009, at which world-renowned scholars are regularly invited to Heidelberg to give lectures. The 2021 Academy lecture series was held as a hybrid event for the first time. Those interested could participate either in person at the Alte Aula of Heidelberg University or by watching the live stream on the YouTube channel (external link) of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities. In addition, the Support Association supports the Academy’s research projects around the world through grants and funds symposia, meetings, conferences, and events on socially relevant issues organized by young researchers at the Academy.
Become a member of the Support Association today. Play an active role in preserving our cultural memory. Promote cutting-edge research and support young scientists. Help shape the future of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities!
