Exceptional achievement deserves recognition. For this reason, the State Academy of Baden-Württemberg, the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, awards annual science prizes for outstanding scientific achievements in both the natural sciences and the humanities.
The awards are intended for early-career researchers and are awarded either for work conducted at a research institution in Baden-Württemberg or to researchers who are engaged in scientific work at an institution in Baden-Württemberg. Each award is endowed with €10,000.
The awards will be awarded during the 2027 Annual Celebration of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities. Upon receiving the award, the awardees will also become members of the Academy College of the Young Academy | HAdW for a period of five years. Members of the Academy, as well as the directors of all academic departments at universities and all non-university research institutes in the state of Baden-Württemberg, are eligible to submit nominations.

In 2027, the Academy will award the following Awards:

Academy Prize for work in the humanities and social sciences. In particular, work that takes a broader perspective—as is typical of postdoctoral dissertations, for example—is likely to be successful.
Karl Freudenberg Award for works in the natural sciences, particularly chemistry and biology.
Walter Witzenmann Award for works on social and cultural changes with contemporary relevance, particularly technological transformations.
Ecology Prize of the Viktor & Sigrid Dulger Foundation for works from all disciplines that address environmental problems and their solutions.
Manfred Fuchs Award for a researcher who has built bridges between scientific cultures—particularly between the natural sciences and the humanities—through their scholarly work.
The Manfred Lautenschläger Award for work in the fields of history, society, and culture.
Hector Foundation Award for early-career researchers with outstanding publications in computer science and robotics.
Jürgen Wolfrum Award for multidisciplinary collaboration between mathematics, the natural sciences, and engineering.
