Symposium of the "Theological Correspondence" research project at the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities

The special value of letters (most of which have been preserved in manuscript form) as a source for research on the Early Modern Period has rightly been emphasized in recent years. Given the otherwise limited means of communication, they serve like no other medium not only to convey information but also to forge alliances and communities of like-minded people. Accordingly, they play a key role in the development of religious denominations. This can be observed, for example, in the southwestern part of the Empire. The initial findings of an academic project dedicated to this topic will be presented and discussed at this conference.
