Law and Religion in the Baltic States from a Historical Perspective
Joint Conference of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities and the Estonian Academy of Sciences
This interdisciplinary conference, organized in cooperation between the Estonian Academy of Sciences (Tallinn) and the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, aims to examine law and religion in the Baltic region from a historical perspective. The conference will highlight the historical development of religion in the Baltic region, from the (late, forced) Christianization through the Reformation to the Age of Enlightenment, with a particular focus on legal aspects. The early modern period, with its upheavals stemming from the Reformation, will be a key focus.
