Law and Religion in the Baltic States from a Historical Perspective
Joint Conference of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities and the Estonian Academy of Sciences
Organized in cooperation between the Estonian Academy of Sciences (Tallinn) and the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, this interdisciplinary conference aims to examine law and religion in the Baltic region from a historical perspective. The historical development of religion in the Baltic region will be examined, highlighting key periods from the (later forced) Christianization through the Reformation to the Age of Enlightenment, with a focus on legal aspects. The Early Modern period, with its upheavals stemming from the Reformation, will be a central focus.
