Prof. Dr. Christian Drosten will speak on the topic of “Genetic Research on Pathogens Following COVID-19.”
About the speaker: Prof. Dr. Christian Drosten (external link) is a physician and virologist. His areas of research include viral diversity, ecology, and epidemiology across the various stages of evolution—from a pathogen’s natural reservoir to its global spread among humans. He heads the Institute of Virology at the Charité in Berlin. He gained recognition for his work related to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Heidelberg Academy lecture series was presented in 2009 by the .hadw-bw.de/">Support Association for the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities e.V. as a gift to mark the Academy’s 100th anniversary and has since been funded and organized annually by the Support Association and the Schmeil Foundation. World-renowned scholars are regularly invited to Heidelberg for the event.
