The latest issue of the HAdW’s Athene magazine explores the many facets of the Prometheus myth and its enduring significance. The contributions range from the origins of the myth in ancient Greek culture to Goethe’s famous hymn Prometheus and the figure’s transformation into a symbol of the modern quest for freedom and humanity’s desire to master nature.
Researchers from a wide range of disciplines—including art history, history, philosophy, literature, prehistory and early history, and physics—examine Prometheus from their respective perspectives. The issue also provides insights into current research projects, including the challenges involved in the return of Nepal’s written cultural heritage. In addition, it features reports on the activities of the Young Academy | HAdW.
