Hector Foundation Award

The award, sponsored by the Hector Foundation (external link), is intended for young researchers in the field of computer science. It is intended to encourage early-career researchers in their work and to recognize outstanding scientific achievements. The award is awarded annually.

The award is endowed with 10,000 euros and was awarded for the first time in 2023.

Who can be nominated?

Candidates nominated for the award must have earned their Ph.D. no more than 5 years ago. The work on which the nomination is based must have been published or submitted for publication within the past two years. The awards cannot be divided among multiple works for which a candidate is nominated. However, if several candidates have contributed equally to a single work, the awards may be awarded to them in equal shares.

All members of the Mathematical and Natural Sciences class
All heads of scientific departments at universities
All heads of non-university research institutes in the state of Baden-Württemberg
Self-nominations are not permitted

When will the decision be made?

The Academy will announce its decision at the beginning of the year. The winner and their mentor will be notified of the result in writing.
