Duration: 1972–2000

Cataloging of mythological motifs in all ancient visual arts from the Greek Geometric period to ca. 400 CE as a source for research in mythology, religious studies, art history, and literary studies. Publication of the Lexicon Iconographicum Mythologiae Classicae (LIMC), a handbook of mythology in the visual arts of Greece, the Roman Empire, and neighboring cultures.

Bibliography

The lexicon has been published in a total of eight two-volume sets (each consisting of a text volume and an illustrated volume) and one index volume.
