Viktor & Sigrid Dulger Foundation Ecology Award

For many years, the Viktor & Sigrid Dulger Foundation (external link) has been awarded for many years. It honors young scientists who, regardless of their field of study, make an important contribution to the protection of nature and the environment.

The award is endowed with 10,000 euros.

Who is eligible for nomination?

The award is awarded to a young researcher for outstanding scientific work. The proposed work must have been accepted as a scientific achievement by a university or research institute in the state of Baden-Württemberg and must have been published or submitted for publication within the past two years.

Candidates nominated for the award must not be older than 35 years of age. If multiple candidates have contributed equally to the work, the award may be shared equally among them.

Who may submit nominations?
  • All members of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities
  • The leadership of all academic institutions at universities in Baden-Württemberg (rectors, deans, Managing Directors, institute directors)
  • The leadership of all non-university research institutions in Baden-Württemberg (Managing Directors)
  • Self-nominations are not permitted
Viktor & Sigrid Dulger Foundation Ecology Award
The Donors

Prof. Dr. h. c. Viktor Dulger (external link) founded Chemie & Filter GmbH in Heidelberg in 1960. With the invention of the first electronically controlled dosing pump made of die-cast metal, he laid the foundation for his life’s work. The dosing pump, named “ProMinent,” subsequently gave the entire company its corporate name, which remains in use to this day: ProMinent GmbH (external link).

Today, the company (external link) a specialist in water treatment and fluid metering technology. The company operates in over 100 countries and remains family-owned to this day.

Viktor Dulger († 2016) and his wife Sigrid Dulger († 2023) established the Viktor & Sigrid Dulger Foundation in 1995. The foundation supports young scientists; in addition, art and culture are important causes for the foundation.

The Award Recipients

The Viktor and Sigrid Dulger Foundation’s Ecology Prize is intended to support scholarly work in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and engineering that addresses environmental problems and their solutions.

The Academy will announce its decision at the beginning of the year. The award winner and their mentor will be notified of the result in writing.
