With the support of the state of Baden-Württemberg, the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities has launched an initiative that is unique in Germany and offers funding opportunities to outstanding scientists and scholars throughout the state at an early stage of their careers: the WIN-Kolleg. Since 2002, the Academy has been funding interdisciplinary projects under ever new sub-programmes, thereby opening up particular opportunities for research and enabling exchange with Academy members. In this way, the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, as the state academy of Baden-Württemberg, contributes to consolidating the state as a location for science and giving prospective top-level research a home.

The Heidelberg Academy celebrated the 20th anniversary of its WIN College on 20 May 2022. With a ceremony (internal link), it looked back on past topics and successes and honoured the interdisciplinary projects of its young scientists as a starting point for future-oriented research.

The current projects were publicly presented with ice cream and drinks on Karlsplatz (internal link) in front of the Academy building. During the ceremony, the award winners of the Year 2022 also presented themselves and their award-winning scientific work.

The festive moments of the ceremony and the project presentation on Karlsplatz are captured in a picture gallery (internal link).
