The Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, together with the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts (external link), has been awarding the Prize for Courageous Science since 2016. It is awarded every two years.
The prize is awarded together with the State Research Prize (internal link), which has existed since 1989. The two prizes are awarded jointly.
