How to apply for a WIN Conference

Who may apply?

At the time of application you

  • have finished your PhD. Only researchers in an early career state after their PhD may apply. Parental leave will be factored in for your benefit. Employees of the Academy may not apply.
  • are employed at or affilited with a research institution in Baden-Württemberg.
  • are not a tenured professor. Junior- or Tenure-Track-Professors are eligible for application.

Basic Conditions

  • Funding per conference will amount to a maximum of € 11,000.
  • All funding must be expended within the respective year of the conference (including costs for publications). You may apply for travel expenditures, non-personnel costs (e.g. for promotional materials), and for TAs. There is no funding for scientific employees or lecture fees.
  • You may apply for funding for publication of the conference proceeds. Only Open Access Publications may be funded.
  • The conference will preferably be held at the Academy’s location (free of charge), which hold up to approx. 60 participants.
  • If you make use of the Academy’s location, do not plan your conference for more than four days or over a weekend. You may provide an approximate date. In case your application is granted, we will coordinate the final date with you.
  • Please provide all speakers you would like to invite, even if you have not done so yet.

How to apply

  • Your conference needs to be conceived as an interdisciplinary venture. Please elaborate on the subject of the conference and why it can only be treated by an interdisciplinary conference.
  • Your application may not exceed five pages [Times New Roman 12pt, 1,15-spaced]. Please attach a programme, a budget (max. 1 page), and a CV with a list of publications (max. 2 pages per applicant).
  • You may submit your proposal in English or German.
  • Please submit your application in a consolidated pdf file to Georg Wolff (hadw@hadw-bw.de) (subject „WIN-Konferenzen 2026“), who will also answer any questions you might have regarding applications.
