A transdisciplinary model for Collective Decision Making: Linguistic and Physical perspective
Decision making: 2022–2023
In the proposed extension of the project in 2022–2023 the aim is to apply, differentiate and modify the model by setting up a specific focus. In order to do so, we reduce the number of involved disciplines and focus on the collaboration of Linguistics and Physics. However, the biological concepts that were identified in the first funding period remain formative for this endeavour.
Modeling: 2019–2021
The goal of the first part of this project from 2019–2021 was to develop a transdisciplinary model which combines methods in and approaches to (1) communicative practices of collective decision-making in linguistics, (2) evolutionary adaptation processes in populations in biology and (3) emergent phenomena of self-organised dynamic many-body systems in physics. The intermediate results of each discilinary project are successively processed towards a transdisciplinary model and combined on a general level. The general principles and paradigms on structure and pattern formation in collective decision-making can be utilised in the disciplinary projects. In order to make the exchange between humanistic and natural sciences possible we will publish a handbook "Collective Decision Making. A transdisciplinary Handbook / Kollektives Entscheiden. Ein transdisziplinäres Handbuch" in four volumes. The handbook will be available at Heidelberg University Publishing (heiUP) successively via OpenAccess and at the end of the project via print on demand.
